Eileen Ann Barranco, 89, of New Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Harrisburg Hospital, Dauphin County. Born on September 11, 1934, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Florence (Helfrich) Congdon.
Growing up in Luzerne County, Eileen was a graduate of St. Leo’s High School, Ashley, before attending and earning a degree in Business from Wyoming Seminary, Kingston. She spent her working career with United Parcel Systems, starting in Greenwich, CT, and retiring while in Atlanta, GA.
Eileen and her late husband, Frank, moved to the Harrisburg Area in the early 2000s to be closer to family. Parishioners at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, Eileen was also a member of the folk choir that sang at Saturday evening masses. She was a member of the New Cumberland Army Depot Women’s Club, and she was an active volunteer with the Fredricksen Library, Camp Hill, and at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township. She was an avid reader and a history enthusiast. She tried her hand at golf in her younger days, but a constant throughout her life was the love she had for her family.
Surviving Eileen is her son, Mark Barranco of Brooklyn, NY; siblings, Paul Congdon of Forty Fort and Carolee Munn of New Cumberland; and ten nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank E. Barranco, Jr. (dcd. 2012).
A public visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1PM on Monday, June 10, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
