Eleanor Mae Kurzenknabe, 89, formerly of Harrisburg and Camp Hill, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 in the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown.
She was born April 23, 1924 in Harrisburg to the late Harvey and Florence (Hoke) Miller and was a graduate of the former William Penn High School, Harrisburg.
She was a member of Penbrook United Church of Christ and a longtime member of the former St. John’s United Church of Christ. Eleanor was a long time member of Harrisburg Church Women United, having served as President, Secretary and Treasurer; a former volunteer at Polyclinic Hospital where she, along with her late husband John G. Kurzenknabe, II were named Volunteers of the Year in 1997; Past President and Secretary of the Resident’s Association of The Woods at Cedar Run, where she resided; former Board Member of the Aurora Club of Harrisburg; former Meals on Wheels volunteer; former member of Trio Chapter 544 OES; and a former member of the Zembo Shrine Concert Band “Band Aides”.
She was the widow of John George Kurzenknabe, II and is survived by her sons, Glenn and wife Barbara of New Cumberland and Karl of Camp Hill; grandsons, Mark and wife Jennifer and Paul; and great grandsons Connor and Caden.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, November 14, 2013 in Penbrook United Church of Christ, 56 Banks St. Harrisburg, PA 17105 with the Rev. Dr. Robert Stoudt, her pastor officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
