Ervin William Nace, Jr.

August 30, 1931 — January 25, 2018

Ervin William Nace, Jr., 86 of Warrington Township, York County, passed away at York Hospital on Thursday, January 25 following a brief illness. He was born in Pickletown in Heidelberg Township, York County on August 30, 1931, to Ervin William and Edna Rae (Waltimyer) Nace. He graduated from West York High School in 1950. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and served aboard the USS Casa Grande.

He was the husband of Phyllis Shank Nace, who passed away in 2009. They were married 51 years. He was formerly employed at Yorktowne Paper Mills and American Chain & Cable, both in York, and he retired from the Harrisburg State Hospital. In the 1970s and '80s he operated Nace's Country Store in Erney, Newberry Twp., York Co., and Quaker Race Store in Warrington Twp., York Co.

He was a member of Pinchot Park Assembly of God in Wellsville and the Shellsville VFW and was an at-large member of District 14C of the Lions Club, having served many years as a member and officer of the Pinchot Park Lions. He was a tireless volunteer whose servant heart touched many lives.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Jackie L. Nace.

He is survived by a son, William L. Nace (Judith) of Dillsburg, a daughter, JoAnn R. Hamilton of Dover, Arkansas; three grandsons, Alexander W. "Will" Nace of Carlisle, John E. Nace of Grantham, and Kenneth E. Nace of Dillsburg; a granddaughter, Lydia A. Hamilton of Dover, Arkansas; three sisters, Madlyn (Richard) Alwine of York, Dolores Kraft of Hanover, Darlene (Donald) Rohrbaugh of Spring Grove; nieces and nephews; and by his closest friend, Anita Winchester of Wellsville.

Visitation will be at 10am followed by memorial services at 11am Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Interment with military honors will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York Twp.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pinchot Park Lions Club, c/o Al Hayes, 330 Wellsville Rd., Wellsville, PA 17365 or his church, 2755 Rosstown Rd., Wellsville, PA 17365.
