Ethel A. "Peggy" Saliunas

Ethel A. “Peggy” Saliunas, 94, formerly of New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in Chesterbrook Assisted Living, Falls Church, VA.

She was a retired Membership Secretary with the PA Podiatric Medical Association and a member of St. Theresa Parish, New Cumberland, PA where she was active with their Caring Community and Little Flower Social Club. Peggy was also active with the Friends of the New Cumberland Library, West Shore Senior Center, the exercise group at Christ Presbyterian Church, her book club, her bridge club, her Tuesday Night Movie group and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Additionally, she was a former Girl Scout leader.

Peggy was born on Governor’s Island in New York City, NY, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Sophia (Hulslander) Burch and was the widow of Joseph Raymond Saliunas.

She is survived by four of the greatest children ever, Joseph L. Saliunas of Bethesda, MD (Barbara), Barbara A. Woznicki of Manlius, NY (Richard), Sylvia T. Saliunas of Clearwater, FL (Jamie) and Nancy J. Steelberg of McLean, VA (Nelson); seven outstanding grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, April 20, 2023 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070 with the Rev. Kyle Sahd as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 10 – 10:30 am on Thursday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp., PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Peggy’s memory to St. Theresa Catholic Church at the address above. Please designate Music Ministry and Peggy’s name on the memo line.
