Eugene E. “Gene” Heiges, 79, of Mechanicsburg died Monday, August 24, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.
An Army Veteran, he worked for Pennsylvania American Water Company as a Plant Operator. He was a member of Lowther Manor Lodge No. 781, F & AM, Lewisberry; Zembo Shrine having served as Past Potentate and in the Usher and Mini-Car Units. He was a life long member of Hampden Township Volunteer Fire Rescue having served as Chief and Assistant Fire Chief; and Past President of Cumberland County Fire Police. He enjoyed farming and also had his own construction business: Heiges Home Improvements.
He was born February 28, 1941 in Lemoyne, PA to the late Roy and Annabelle (Erb) Heiges. He was also preceded in death by his sister Velma.
He is survived by his wife Glenda L. (Wise) Heiges; two sons, Greg Kauffman (Sherrie) of Mechanicsburg and Todd Heiges (Darlene) of Enola; daughter, Kimberly Petrey (Mark) of Barnesville; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Due to current restrictions to prevent the spread, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
