Eugene Ross Snell, 86, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died Friday, September 27, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.
He retired as a concrete mason and the owner/operator of the former Snell Concrete Construction of New Cumberland; a WWII Navy Veteran; a member of the New Cumberland Church of the Nazarene since 1965; Navy Club of Lebanon, Ship no. 91; Mannechor Club of Lebanon; Amvets of Harrisburg; Fireman’s Club of Lebanon; Steelton Moose; life member, board member and chaplain of VFW Post 7415 and American Legion Post 143, both of New Cumberland; Charter member of the Military Order of the Cooties, Pup Tent #92; formerly active with Harrisburg Area Youth For Christ. Born on August 6, 1927 in New Cumberland, he was the son of the late Ross A. and Margie (Hibner) Snell. He was preceded in death by a two sons, Eugene R. Snell, Jr. and Stephen E. Snell and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two sons, George C. Zuna of FL and Andrew E. Snell of Dillsburg; eight daughters, Barbara L. Hinkle of New Cumberland, Brenda J. Darr of New Cumberland, Debbie A. Shatzer of Etters, Barbie A. Sheffield of Etters, Margie A. Davis of Camp Hill, Judy K. Seeley of New Cumberland, Sandy L. Treece of Harrisburg and Cinthia L. Lee of Camp Hill; a very special friend, Audrey M. Conz of New Cumberland; a brother, Josh Snell of Port Royal; three sisters, Marian Rodeheffer of New Weston, OH, Eleanor Bender of Camp Hill and Carol Grasso of Oak Hills, FL; 21 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday at New Cumberland Church of The Nazarene with the Rev. Dr. Steven R. Grosvenor, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Viewing will be held 6 – 8 PM on Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
