Florence F. (Floryshak) Ruminski, 95, of New Cumberland, found eternal peace in Heaven on Sunday, September 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a graduate of Newport Township High School, Luzerne County, PA. She was a member of the New Cumberland Woman’s Club and St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, where she was a member of the Little Flower Club and an active volunteer baking for the Fall Festival, cleaning the church, and many other avenues of giving. Florence was an excellent cook and baker, most notably known for her delicious poppy seed bread, which she lovingly made by hand for family and friends at every holiday and family gathering. Consider yourself lucky if she shared the “secret” ingredient with you! Florence enjoyed traveling with her husband, was an avid sports fan and her favorite sporting events were those in which her grandchildren participated.
Florence was a humble, gentle, caring, loving soul whose incredible faith uplifted anyone with whom she came in contact, especially her family. To her, family held a central place in her life.
Florence was born in Glen Lyon, PA, the daughter of the late Walter and Martha (Butka) Floryshak. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Henry, Walter, John and Joe Floryshak, and Mary Yamilkoski.
Florence was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Vincent F. Ruminski. She is survived by her four children, Dianne M. Ruminski of New Cumberland, Marcia M. Gelburd (Jeffrey) of New Cumberland, Vincent K. Ruminski (Jamie) of Camp Hill and Teresa E. Polan (Richard) of New Cumberland; eight grandchildren, Meghan Ramick (Stephen), Ryan Gelburd (Megan), Andrew Gelburd, Caroline Ruminski, Christopher Polan, Vincent Ruminski, Jonathan Polan and Zachary Polan; and three great-granddaughters, Lillian, Adalynn and Charlotte Gelburd.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070 with the Rev. Jonathan Sawicki as Celebrant. Viewing will be from 9 – 10:30 am Saturday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made in Florence’s memory to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070.
