Florence (Flossie) V. Horoshak passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg, PA. She was born in Boiling Springs, PA on March 26, 1930, to Clinton and Frances (Donnelly) Shambaugh. She graduated from New Cumberland High School (Class of 1948) where she made many life-long friends and was active in the drama club.
Flossie met her husband, Stephen Horoshak at AMP, Inc. They were married in December, 1951 and raised four children in New Cumberland, PA in a house they built themselves. She was a terrific homemaker and seamstress, loved to garden and trace family ancestors, had a good sense of humor, and a natural curiosity for the world around her. She was a kind person, who weathered life’s curveballs with dignity and grace.
She is survived by her children, who are grateful to have had such a wonderful mother: Yvonn Horoshak (Rick Cooper) of West Grove, PA, Vivian Horoshak (Robert Hawkins) of Yarmouth, ME, Jeff Horoshak (Teara) of Phoenixville, PA, and Jason Horoshak (Mary) of Harrisburg, PA.; four grandchildren: Christine Hawkins, Tristan Horoshak, Nicholas Horoshak, and Zachary Horoshak, and a sister, Nellie Snyder of Etters, PA., and sister-in-law, Hannah Nash of Queensbury, NY, along with their extended families.
Flossie’s family would like to thank the staff at Messiah Village and her prior, in-home caregivers for their dedication and loving care.
In keeping with Flossie’s wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be beside her late husband in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
