Francis C. Mangan

June 15, 1928 — November 25, 2022

On Friday, November 25, 2022, the world lost a true gentleman. Francis (Frank) C. Mangan died at home surrounded by his family and his wife of 68 years, Marie (Coyne) Mangan.

Frank was born and raised in Pittston (Port Griffith), Pa. on June 15, 1928, the son of James A. Mangan and Mary (Barrett) Mangan.

Frank graduated from St. John’s High School in 1945. Shortly afterwards, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Frank was honorably discharged in 1947 and attended Drexel University on the G.I. Bill, where he graduated with a B.S. in Engineering in 1951.

In 1951, Frank met his future wife and the love of his life, Marie. They were married on September 4, 1954 and raised five children in Scranton, Pa.

Frank was a partner at Bellante and Claus, Miller and Nolan in Scranton, Pa. In 1980, he became the president of the Pennsylvania Telephone Association. He worked in that position until his retirement in 1995.

Frank was an avid golfer and former member of the Elmhurst Country Club, the Country Club of Scranton, and, most recently, the West Shore Country Club in Camp Hill, Pa. He was a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers and a past member of the Elks’ and Rotary Clubs. He was a parishioner of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in New Cumberland, Pa. since 1980.

Frank is survived by his wife, Marie; his five children: James Mangan (Maryam), Nancy Lilian French (Eldred), Jack Mangan (Jane), Mary Boate (James), and Carol Mangan Nazarey (Andy); nine grandchildren: Delia, Maggie, Cassie, Jimmy, Colleen, Elizabeth, McGregor, Maricate, and Ryan; and four great-grandchildren, Vincent, Elise, Willa, and Oliver. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers James and Robert, and his sisters, Betty and Margaret.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on December 2, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Theresa’s Church in New Cumberland, followed by a reception in the Little Flower Social Hall of the church. Calling hours will be held at Parthemore Funeral Home in New Cumberland from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Frank’s name to the charity of your choice. The family also wishes to thank the wonderful team at Hospice of Central PA for all of their support.
