Fred Rehm Byerly

September 29, 1958 — February 11, 2025

Lewisberry, PA

Fred Rehm Byerly, 66, of Lewisberry, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. He was the son of the late Richard and Jane (Wolfe) Byerly, born on September 29, 1958, in Harrisburg.

A graduate of Red Land High School, Class of 1977, he would go on to become a machinist, working as a tool and die maker with AMP Inc. and then Tyco International Ltd. He was good with his hands and extremely handy, often lending these skills at home and settings outside of work. Fred could build anything out of metal.

In 1983, he married a fellow Red Land Classmate, Patty, and the two started a family together. They enjoyed time spent together at Raystown Lake, and Fred loved nothing more than towing his boat up there with his Chevy Nova (that was painted to match the boat exactly). He found peace in the outdoors, hunting and fishing throughout his life, and he took an interest in stained glass and RC cars. Fred was a life member of the West Shore Sportsmen’s Association and an avid New York Yankees fan. You could find him and Patty in the stands at Jake and Max’s baseball and tennis matches, and he enjoyed cooking duties when dinnertime rolled around; there was no question that family was first and foremost in Fred’s life. A man of few words, his dry sense of humor and calm and relaxed nature will be missed. His family finds comfort in knowing that he’s free of his physical ailments and reunited with the love of his life—his late wife, Patty.

Surviving Fred are his children, Jake Byerly (Hannah) of Camp Hill, PA, and Max Byerly of Salt Lake City, UT; two very special grandchildren, Jackson and Madilyn Byerly; and a sister, Christy Wickard of Newberrytown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Patricia “Patty” (Stauffer) Byerly; a sister, Nancy Fuhrman; and brother-in-law, Lenny Wickard.

At Fred’s request, no formal services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Fred’s name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
