Frederick Jay Dailey, 77, of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at his home.
He was born on March 16, 1939, in Knox, Pennsylvania, a beloved son of the late Frank and Hilda Wathen Dailey.
He was a 1957 graduate of Union Joint High School. He was employed by the Department of Public Welfare for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 34 years. Previously, he was employed by Allegheny Airlines, was an agent for State Farm Insurance, and was a U.S. Army veteran. His favorite hobbies included fishing, camping, treasure hunting, family genealogy, hiking, biking, and building or fixing things. His favorite foods were ice cream, chocolate, and hard candy. And of course, his wife, children and grandchildren were the lights of his life.
On July 15, 1989, he married Karen Tracanna. The two recently celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are his children, Michelle (Alex) Zajac of Washington, D.C., Kirk Dailey of Marienville, and Eric (Becky) Dailey of Cleburne, TX; 10 grandchildren, Elisabeth Dailey and her fiancé Alex Welz, Matthew Dailey, Kevin (Jillian) Jacklin, Christian (Holly) Dailey, Austin Dailey, Ryan Dailey, Colton Dailey, Justin Quinn, Jason Quinn, and Jacob Quinn; and four great-grandchildren, Shaun Jacklin, Axel Jacklin, Nicholas Carlson, and Malachi Dailey.
He is also survived by his father-in-law, Frank Tracanna Jr., brothers-in-law, Lee (Nancy) Klingensmith of Franklin and Richard "Rick" (Anna) Tracanna of Cleveland, OH; his sisters-in-law, Karen Dailey of Franklin, Terry (Art) Brogley of Scenery Hill, Kim (Chris) Tracanna-Breault of Orange Park, FL, and Sandra Frazee; 11 nieces and nephews, Jared Dailey, Elizabeth Dailey, Sierra Dailey, Sydney Dailey, Frank Klingensmith, Brian (Lena) Klingensmith, Kate Tracanna, Kevin Brogley, Melissa Packard, Chad Brogley, and Mark Frazee II; and many extended family members and friends, including Mason Klingensmith, Taylor, Hailey, and Luke Packard, Vivian Dailey, and Valarie Dailey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Klingensmith, a nephew, Jon Klingensmith, his brother, Dennis Dailey, and his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Tracanna.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm Thursday, September 29th at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Friends and family will then be received from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm Friday at Warco-Falvo Funeral Home in Washington, PA. A prayer service will be held at 10 am Saturday following the final viewing from 9 – 10 am at Warco-Falvo Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Washington. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.
