G. Mark Schwager

January 6, 1947 — February 24, 2021

G. Mark Schwager, 74, of Lemoyne, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Penn State Health, Hershey Medical Center, Derry Twp.

Mark was born in 1947 in Youngstown, OH to the late George and Ruth Ann (Kling) Schwager.

He was an architectural design division chief with the Commonwealth of PA (retired) and graduated from Ohio State University with his BA in Fine Arts, the University of Pennsylvania with his MA in Fine Arts, and Temple University with his BS in Architecture.

Mark taught, volunteered with, and was a member of the Art Association of Harrisburg, along with creating murals in Harrisburg and on the West Shore. He loved the beach, painting, pottery, and art museums; the Jersey shore and the coast of Maine; as well as strong coffee and greasy diners. But more than anything, Mark’s big family meant everything to him.

Mark bravely fought cancer for 10 years and is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Schwager; children, Kate Novak (Bill) of UT, James Schwager (Amy) of CA, Rachel Brittin (Thomas Lenar) of MD, Lizzie Correia (Matt) of CA, and Lauren Zinicola (Dillon) of PA; siblings, Margaret Schwager of England, Fred Schwager of PA, Terry Schwager of CT, Sue Schwager of PA, Lynn Miles of NJ, and Peter Schwager of OH; and six grandchildren, Will, Brooks, Quinn, Norah, Bryn and Hobie.

In light of the current pandemic, services and a celebration of life will be planned for a future date when all can gather and honor Mark. Please monitor the Patriot News and www.Parthemore.com for service announcements.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Mark’s memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
