Gabriel Khawnghawng Lasap

Gabriel Khawnghawng Lasap, 58, of Harrisburg passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He was born on October 12, 1965 in Myanmar to the Late Stephen Hkawng and Sophia Yang.

Gabriel is survived by his wife, Mary Jahkawn; four children, Charles Khawng , Teresa Lasap, Maryjoseph Lasap, and Ester Lasap; and siblings, Donald Lum, Jerome Lasap and wife, Cecelia Hkawntawng, Gracy Lasap and husband, Gawlu Latsun, Anna Lasap and Lucas Lasap and wife, Julia Myaw.

Gabriel had immigrated to U.S in September of 2008 to have a better future. Then he developed some health complexion in 2009, and his chance of working was in vain. But his faith got stronger, and he did not let sickness defined him and let anyone down around him. He kept the family to stay stronger than ever been before by prayers. He never missed a day without saying a rosary four times a day (morning, lunch, evening and night).

Gabriel was a social butterfly in the family and friends and family meant everything to him. He enjoyed going on adventures with the family. With God’s power, he somehow had ability to ease some of his friends’ burdens whenever he charted with new friends or old friends from back home with consistent good sense of humor since he was a kid. It was dramatic, comical and uplifting at the same time.

Viewing will be held from 11:30am to 12:30pm on October 21, 2024 at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00pm at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, New Cumberland followed by Committal services at Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp. Then memorial reception will follow from 3:30pm-5:30pm in social hall at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, New Cumberland.
