Gail Lamar Hancock

August 8, 1951 — October 4, 2022

Gail Lamar Hancock, 71, of Lower Allen Twp., Camp Hill, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 in Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill.

Gail was born in Harrisburg, the son of the late Gail Lincoln Hancock and Frances (Snyder) Hancock. He was a retired Retirement Administrator with the PA State Employees Retirement System, Harrisburg and a U.S. Navy veteran. Gail was a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, Thompson Institute of Technology and continued his education through adulthood – always wanting to broaden his knowledge.

Gail had a passion for family tree research and continued it throughout his life. He loved football, the Philadelphia Eagles, and always tried to make it to the Carlisle car shows. He enjoyed camping in his RV and was always eager for family Board Game nights (he especially loved winning at Scrabble). Additionally, he found great pleasure spending time with his four-legged friends, Pepper and Rosie.

Gail was involved with the former Lemoyne Little League Baseball Association as his children grew up. He was always so very proud of his children and everything they were involved with and would tell stories of their accomplishments. Gail was a GREAT storyteller and never missed an opportunity to find someone who would lend their ear, but he was also a great listener for anyone who needed his ear.

Gail’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and took extreme pride in his role as “PopPop” to his four grandchildren, Tommy, Benton, Addie and Miranda. In addition to his four grandchildren, he is survived by the love of his life and soul mate Jeanne Keeley. They had an immediate connection when they met and come to share a life with each other for decades traveling, camping, and were happy just to spend time snuggling while watching TV or having a cup of coffee together; his sons, Shane Hancock (Erinne) of Mechanicsburg and Garrett Hancock of New Cumberland; daughters, Kristen Hancock of York Haven, Jennifer Keeley of Camp Hill and Kellyanne Keeley-Munro (Michael) of Lebanon; and many, many friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Jennifer Richards officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to service time in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp., PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Gail’s memory to the Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Road Harrisburg, PA 17111.
