Garth Emerson Hoffman

Garth Emerson Hoffman, 91, of New Cumberland, passed away on March 25, 2025. He was born on January 17, 1934, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late Clarence and Cicely (Shakespeare) Hoffman. Garth led a vibrant and fulfilling life, which leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and passion for family and community.

Garth, a proud graduate of Penn State, thrived in his career as a Marketing Director at Penn Mutual Insurance, where his dedication and vision earned him respect within the industry. He was known for his friendly demeanor, always ready to lend a hand or share a story. Outside of work, Garth was an enthusiastic member of the Grace Lutheran Men's Softball League, where he forged lasting friendships on the field.

A lover of adventure, Garth delighted in traveling the world, exploring new cultures, and embracing the experiences that life had to offer. His heart beat for Penn State sports, as well as for the thrill of Philadelphia sports-cheering on the Eagles and Phillies. In addition to his passion for sports, Garth expressed himself through art, photography, and comics, finding joy in both drawing and reading. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, especially the time spent with his beloved family.

Garth is survived by his sons, Michael (Brian Russell), Steven, and Mark; his daughter, Linda (Douglas) Hoffman-DiMartile; a brother, Charles; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He is reunited in death with his cherished wife, Loretta Hoffman; his brother, John; and his parents.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 10 AM - 12 PM at Parthemore Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow immediately after; burial will take place at Emanuel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the New Cumberland Olde Towne Foundation.
