George E. Hamburg, III, 78, of Mechanicsburg, died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
He retired as Superintendent of Postal Operations from USPS, New Cumberland and also retired from PNC Bank. He was an active member of Shiremanstown United Methodist Church; Lowther Manor Lodge 781 F&AM, Lewisberry; Zembo Shrine (Circus Chairman); and Past Boss Clown for Zembo Shrine and Mid-Atlantic Shrine Clown Association. He was known as Zippy the Clown. He was Past President of Red Land Band Boosters and held several positions in the New Cumberland Lions Club.
He was born October 20, 1940 in Harrisburg to the late George and Azalea (Corpman) Hamburg. He was also preceded in death by his step-daughter, Heather and wife, Evelyn.
He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Hamburg; son David G. (Elaine) of New Cumberland; daughter Kathy J. Davis of New Cumberland; two step-sons, Thomas B. Gale (Jocelyn) of Camp Hill and James B. Gale (Lisa) of Monument, CO; sister, Marilyn K. Hicks (Geoff) of Chambersburg; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10am until funeral services at 11am Thursday at Shiremanstown United Methodist Church with Masonic Services at 10:45am. Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
