George John Lapore, 73, of Camp Hill, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Born on September 9, 1950, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late George J. and Rose M. (Meyo) Lapore.
George was a 1968 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, Harrisburg, and would go on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University. He was a people person through and through, and his family came first—always. His love for others led him to becoming a natural salesman, enjoying the interactions and opportunities his career would afford him. He retired after 30 years of employment from Wittenbach Business Systems in Timonium, MD.
George and his family became parishioners of St. Theresa Catholic Church when they relocated from Harrisburg to Camp Hill in the late 1980s. Getting together with friends and family was the best, and he was a proud Nonno who loved and supported his grandchildren in all their endeavors. He was an avid golfer, belonging to Colonial and Blue Ridge Country Clubs before joining Royal Manchester. George was also past-president and a current member of the Central PA Sons & Daughters of Italy in America, Lodge # 2651, as well as an active member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Theresa Parish Council 8921. The Christmas season was his favorite time of year, as he routinely brought joy to youngsters as Santa in various neighborhood and community holiday events. He was a wonderful husband, father, Nonno and friend, and though he will be missed, the family is comforted in knowing that he’s reunited with so many loved ones, including his beloved sister, Ann.
Surviving is his wife and best friend of 50 years, Janet L. (Ference) Lapore; his sons, Anthony G. Lapore (Beth) of New Cumberland and John J. Lapore (Erin) of York; grandchildren, Sophie, Maria, Vincent and Gabriel; a brother, Francis Lapore (Pegge) of Naples, FL; and three nieces, Lisa, Kristen and Susan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Marie Shope.
A visitation with family will be held from 4 to 6PM on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. At 11AM the following morning, Wednesday, December 27, Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland.
