George P. Hillegas, Jr., 71, of Fairview Twp., Lewisberry, died Saturday, October 11, 2014, at his home.
Born on January 30, 1943, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late George P. Sr. and Sorata (Thompson) Hillegas. He was a former employee at the Patriot News in Advertising Sales, Harrisburg Wholesale Florist, New Cumberland, and B.A.P.S. Auto Paints, Lemoyne; a proud 1960 graduate of the former John Harris High school; a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Harrisburg; an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, enjoyed playing poker including Texas Hold'em; formerly played softball for Grace Ev. Lutheran Church Softball team; formerly played basketball and bowled with the Patriot News staff; enjoyed travelling by car, especially to Stone Harbor, NJ, and Vermont, and he loved trains.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene Wirt Hillegas; two sons, Jeffrey D. (Tricia) of Mechanicsburg, James S. (Christine) of Harrisburg; two brothers, Robert A. and Michael S., both of New Cumberland; his former wife, Linda A. Shuler Keller of Dauphin; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with Pastor Ryan Douglas Travis officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
