Grace M. Gardner

Grace M. Gardner, 86 of New Cumberland, Fairview Twp. died Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Susquehanna Twp.

She was a graduate from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Wilkes Barre Pa and retired from Frey Village Retirement Center as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of St. Theresa Parish, New Cumberland and its Little Flower Club and Parish Nursing committee. A Brownie Girl Scout Leader, she served as Past President of American Legion Auxiliary Post 974 and involved with Eight and Forty Salon #487 Veterans Organization. She served as a parish volunteer at Holy Spirit Hospital and was a member of West Shore Senior Center.

She was born November 3, 1928 in Wilkes Barre to the late Paul Jacob and Grace Elizabeth (Farrell) Laux. She was the widow of Robert W. Gardner, Jr. and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Grace Gardner.

She is survived by her children, Margaret E. Babcock (David) of Liverpool, NY, Marcia G. Adams of Red Lion, and Robert W. Gardner, III (Tammy) of Dillsburg; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Stephen, Bradley, Jennifer, Joseph, Jeffrey, and Julia; and two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Lleyton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Viewings will be from 5 to 7pm Thursday and 9:30 to 10am Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
