Grace Paradise Tignanelli, 95, formerly of New Cumberland, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, after a short stay at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carmella (Felice) Paradise, born on February 7, 1929 in Pittsburgh.
A native of Pittsburgh, Grace would meet and then marry the love of her life, Andy Tignanelli; the pair would raise a family together, following Andy's career to Maryland. Family was everything to Grace, happily tending to the home and making sure her children had all they needed. She was a devout Catholic and a radiant example of what living a faithful life was all about. When she and Andrew moved to Central PA (around 2000), they would join St. Theresa Catholic Church in New Cumberland. They also enjoyed traveling as a couple to many of the world’s historical religious sites.
Every holiday, you could find Grace holed up in the kitchen, making dozens and dozens of cookies and desserts. She and her husband were a good team in all aspects of life, but she always appreciated his help in the kitchen during “cookie season.” All about serving others, she would make these sweets knowing that she couldn’t eat any herself. After her husband passed (2016), she enjoyed making new friends when she moved to The Woods at Cedar Run, Camp Hill. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she’s reunited with her loving husband and her daughter, Mary Christine, and that she can finally indulge in some of those treats she baked exclusively for others all those years.
Surviving Grace are three sons, James A. (Norma) of Bonita Springs, FL, William J. (Janet) of Perry Hall, MD, and Andrew V. (Beverly) of Fernandina Beach, FL; a daughter, Susan T. Weaver (Allen) of Lemoyne; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Bronwyn), Christine (Michael), Andrew (Rachel), Amy, Allen Jr., Mitchell (Christy), Michael and Natalie; eight great-grandchildren (with another on the way); siblings, Madeline “Dolly” Lewis and Joseph Paradise; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, A. Andrew Tignanelli; a daughter, Mary Christine Tignanelli; and three siblings, Leonard and Salvator Paradise, and Mary Langord.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1PM on Friday, March 8, 2024 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Prior to mass, a visitation hour will run from 11:30AM-12:30PM at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services (located directly across the street from church). Entombment will immediately follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
