Harold Eugene Sollenberger, 95, of Camp Hill, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, PA died
Thursday, Augustus 10, 2017, 21 days short of his 96th birthday.
He was born August 31,1921 in Chambersburg, PA to the late Albert and Hazel (Hartman) Sollenberger.
A veteran of World War II, Eugene proudly served with the Army Air Corps, completing 35
missions over enemy territory in a B-17 bomber. He was a member of IBEW Local number 143
and retired from E L Heim Co. as an electrical estimator. Eugene was a former member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill. He enjoyed playing tennis, fishing and gardening. An avid bridge player, he was very active in the Harrisburg Bridge Club, achieving the rank of “Life Master”, an honored position in the world of bridge.
Husband of late Ruby Brieland Sollenberger, he is survived by son, Philip and wife, Patti, three grandchildren, Randy, Katie and Kevin and two great granddaughters, Ellie and Waverly. While a man of few words, Eugene gave his family encouragement, support and “Wings to Fly”.
Visitation will be held from 10am until services at 11 am Tuesday, August 22nd at Parthemore
Funeral Home in New Cumberland. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
