Harold “Hal” C. Lahr, 89, of Etters, died on May 29, 2018, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Son of the late John L.F. and Anna Mae (Farling) Lahr, he was born on February 7, 1929, in Harrisburg.
Hal was a graduate of Susquehanna Township High School, Harrisburg; he was also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired as a line splicer for Verizon (formerly Bell Telephone), Harrisburg. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed archery hunting and was a lifetime member of the NRA. Harold found relaxation in his later years, spending hours in “the shop,” or the implement shed located on his property; there he would build useful mechanical devices, weld shovels and other tools into yard decorations, and tinker with his tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Rehm) Lahr; his five children, Steven, David, Timothy, Thomas and Judith; four grandchildren, Jadelyn, Christina, Jonathan and Randy; and one brother, Paul. Aside from his parents, Hal was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Galen.
A private burial and services will be held at the convenience of the family.
