Harper G. Handshaw, 103, formerly of New Cumberland, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Bethany Village, Lower Allen Twp.
He was a retired General Manager for Harrisburg Storage Company and a graduate of Shippensburg High School. He was an active member of Community United Methodist Church, New Cumberland and the Harrisburg Lions Club for more than seventy years, where he was Past President and recipient of the Melvin Jones Award.
Harper was born in Middle Spring, Southampton Twp., Cumberland County, PA to the late John and Edith (Burk) Handshaw.
He was the widower of Anna (McCurdy) Handshaw and is survived by his son James M. Handshaw and wife Marinell of New Cumberland, his daughter Nancy A. Silverman and husband David of State College, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, April 7, 2014 in his church with the Rev. John F. Rauhut, his pastor officiating. Viewing will be from 4-6 pm Sunday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
An additional memorial service in remembrance of Harper will be held at Bethany Village at a future date.
