Harvey G. Goodman, 95, formerly of Silver Spring Township, died Sunday, November 24, 2019, in Camp Hill. Son of the late Harvey and Mayme Goodman, he was born on May 2, 1924.
He was a graduate of Coal Twp. High School, and went on to serve in the United States Army, 8th Armored Division, 36th Tank Battalion, CCB Company A. He was a WWII Veteran and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Harvey retired from Conrail (formerly Penn Central) after 35 years of service. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Lemoyne. He was also a member of the Eighth Armored Division Assoc.; the National Association for the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge (as well as the local Cumberland Valley chapter); VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland; and the Railroad Retiree Club of PA. Harvey was an avid outdoorsman and hunter.
After nine weeks and one day, he went to be with his bride of 72 years, the late Jean Goodman. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Surviving are a son and his wife, John and Kaye Goodman of Mechanicsburg; two grandchildren, Benjamin Goodman and his wife, Elizabeth, of Harrisburg; and Sarah Alexander and her husband, Lucas, of Maple Hill, NC; and two great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
