Harvey H. Lighty, 86, formerly of both Lewisberry and Rheems, died Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the Middletown Home. Son of the late Howard J. and Catharine (Kahney) Lighty, he was born in Bainbridge on October 14, 1931.
Upon completion of high school, Harvey enlisted in the Navy, serving our country during the Korean War. In the private sector, he was an electrician for John E. Fullerton Inc., and later, for Armstrong World Industries, Lancaster; he retired from the latter in 1995. He was a member of the Elizabethtown First Church of God, and held various offices within the church throughout the years. Harvey was also a life member of the Rheems Fire Department, Milton Grove Sportsman’s Club and American Legion Post 329, Elizabethtown. His hobbies included going to the casino, watching horse racing and, in his younger years, hunting and playing golf.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Wanda (Keener) Lighty; a daughter, Dallas Y. and her husband, Donald J. Stoy, of Lewisberry; a grandson, Michael S. Torres, Jr. and his wife, Nicole, of York; and two great- grandchildren, Austin and Alaundra.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
