Helen M. Saintz, 90, of Masonic Village at Elizabethtown and formerly of New Cumberland, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Wednesday, March 11, 1931, in Portage, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Makosky. She was the widow of Ralph R. Saintz and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Michael Makosky.
Helen was retired from DuPont in New Cumberland where she worked as a bookkeeper; a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and its Little Flower Club and the West Shore Garden Club. She had a lifelong love of flowers, and her garden was a showpiece in her neighborhood, where she was beloved by all. She enjoyed travelling the country with her devoted husband, Ralph, and often visited her family in Portage. Her presence graced many a family event, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who loved her.
Surviving are three children, Karen A. Fazzolari and husband, Salvatore of Mechanicsburg, Kerry R. Saintz and partner, Tammy Dunn of Dover and Linda M. Saintz of Reston, VA; six grandchildren, Julia, Sal, Michael, Cristina, Riley and Rory; a great grandchild; brothers and sisters, Paul Makosky of Portage, John Makosky of Beaverdale, Charles Makosky of Portage, Ann Bridge of Portage, and Mary Schaeffer of Macomb, MI; many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Kyle Sahd as Celebrant. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland. While flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St., New Cumberland, PA 17070, or to Crichton McCormick Park, PO Box 293, Portage, PA 15946. The family asks that those attending wear face masks for the safety of all.
