Henry A. Heim

April 23, 1921 — April 8, 2020

Henry A. Heim, 98, of Messiah Village, Lower Allen Twp., and formerly of New Cumberland, died Wednesday, April 08, 2020 at the Village.

He retired as a construction foreman for the former Bell Telephone Co. of PA, Harrisburg, and was a former guide for Martz’s Game Farm, Dalmatia, and an employee of SCI, Camp Hill. Mr. Heim was an Air Force veteran of WWII and Korea; a recipient of two Purple Hearts with Clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Metal with 11 clusters, the U.S. Presidential Citation with two clusters and the South Korean Presidential Citation; a member of the Second Bombardment Assn.; the 15th Air Force Assn.; a Life Member of Pearl Harbor Survivors; a Life Member of VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland; a Life Member of American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland; a member of the Central PA WW II Roundtable; a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; Marysville Lodge #458 F & AM; Telephone Pioneers of America.

Born on April 23, 1921, in Trevorton, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Minnie I. (Hoke) Heim. He was a widow of Kathryn P. (Deppen) Heim, and was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are a son, Thomas H. Heim (Gloria J.) of Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter, Donna K. Morrison of Grantham; three grandchildren, Kimberly Englert (Dave), Jennifer Thomas (Craig), Matthew McClain (Kristen); four great grandchildren, Lola Grace, Annabelle, Cullen, and Charles.

Henry (Hank) was a Pearl Harbor survivor (Hickam Army Air Force Base). After the attack he became a B17 Bomber Pilot flying 78 combat missions. He volunteered for Korea flying 51 B29 missions.

Due to the current world events, the visitation, funeral services and burial with military honors will be held at a later date which will be announced here. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, 228 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
