Henry Lewis Long, 83, of Carlisle, a native of Williamsport, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
An Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired elementary schoolprincipal from Conemaugh Twp. School District. He received his Bachelors Degree from Lycoming College and Masters Degree from Penn State University. Having lived in several communities in Pennsylvania, he was a member of the Rotary, Lions, and Sierra Clubs and the United Methodist Church where he was a lay person and Sunday School teacher. A history buff, he enjoyed reading, hiking and traveling.
He was born September 30, 1929 to the late Dr. John William and Mildred (Lewis) Long.
He is survived by his wife Betty (Overdurf) Long; five daughters, Cynthia Brown (Kevin) of Burke, VA, Joanne Fenstermacher (Peter) of Simsbury, CT, Elizabeth Stickel (Jeffrey) of Springfield, VA, Rebecca Goetz (Joseph) of Mechanicsburg, and Jennifer Cribari (Dan) of Harrisburg; a sister, Jean Dunkleberger of Carson City, AZ; and six grandchildren, Erin, Daniel, Nathan, Joshua, Alexander, and Andrew.
A memorial service will be held at Lycoming College Chapel in June. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.
