Henry R. "Hank" Smith

Henry R. “Hank” Smith, Sr., 97, of New Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in the Veterans Affairs Hospital / NW, Washington D.C.

He was a retired Sgt. 1st Class in the U.S. Army and a WWII Army veteran. He later retired from the former CCNB, New Cumberland where he was a purchasing Manager.

Hank was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland; VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland; Knights of Columbus Council 2169, Wheaton, MD; American Legion Post 12, Reading; and was a former Cub Scout Master for Pack 192, BSA, New Cumberland.

Hank was born in Columbia, Lancaster County to the late Albert J. and Aurelia Catherine (Kaufhold) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Steven R. Smith.

He is survived by his children, Henry R. Smith, Jr. of New Cumberland, Michael R. Smith, Sr. of New Cumberland, Christopher R. “Nick” Smith of New Cumberland, Clement R. Smith of York Springs, Henrietta E. Todd of New Cumberland and Theresa M. McNelley of Carlisle; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070 with the Rev. Samuel Dubois as Celebrant. Viewings will be 6-8 pm Wednesday and 10:30 - 11 am Thursday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial with military honors will be held in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
