Herbert “Herb” K. Hoffmeier, of New Cumberland, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg. Son of the late George K. and Mary Kreider Hoffmeier, Herb was born on July, 28, 1939, in Lancaster.
He was a Senior Power Engineer (Marketing and Energy Services) for PP&L Electric, Harrisburg. Herb was also an Army veteran, serving his time as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Officer; he attended college at Bucknell University, and went on to become a certified professional engineer. Outside of his career, Herb had a passion for art and woodworking throughout his life; he especially enjoyed carving walking sticks and canes. He was a member of the American National Cane Club (Lancaster Co.), West Shore Carvers, VFW Post 7415, and the American Legion Post 143.
Surviving is his wife, Gloria J. Hoffmeier; a son, Clifford D. Geiger, of Etters; a grandson, Coleman Geiger, of Boulder, CO; a brother-in-law, Richard Gher, of Camp Hill; and two nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sibyl Gher.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 11AM, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with Pastor Debby Bentch officiating. A burial at Rolling Green Memorial Park will immediately follow.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
