Hilbert “Hilly” Elwood Whitmer, 92, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, passed from this life into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 17, 2020.
Born in Millersburg on Nov. 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Emerson and Naomi (Ettinger) Whitmer.
He retired after 38 years as an employee of Pennsylvania Power & Light. One of Hilly’s great passions in life was directing the church choir at Fairview Bethel Church of God for 35 years. He was also an avid bowler and musician.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Edna J. (Latchford) Whitmer; two sons, Curt E. (Cindy) of Marysville, and Craig A. (Sue) of Etters; a daughter, Lisa L. Leonard (Shane) of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, Brian, Jeremy, Megan, Heather, Kevin, Lauren and Francis; five great grandchildren, Madison, Sara, Toby, Mackenzie and Jace.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday in Fairview Bethel Church of God with Pastors Dan Masshardt and Eugene Hockenberry officiating. Entombment will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be held from 9:30 – 11 am in the church on Friday.
