Howard G. Knox, 73, of New Cumberland, Pa and formerly of Thomaston, CT, passed into new life on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Holy Spirit Hospital in East Pennsboro Twp.
Howie, a retired Master Sergeant from the US Air Force who served during the Vietnam War, was also a retired Systems Analyst with 40 years at IBM Corp. in Mechanicsburg. He served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Americhoice Federal Credit Union. He was a member of Saint Theresa Parish in New Cumberland, where he served as Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Choir. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8921, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. His greatest joy was his family, especially his children and his grandchildren. Church, volunteering, and serving wherever he could were also of great importance to him.
He was born December 15, 1939 in Waterbury, CT to the late Howard A. and Anna (Welsh) Knox. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step mother, Theresa (Rogozinski), a half brother Maynard, and a half sister, Eleanor (Tedesco).
He is survived by his wife Clara E. (Baker) Knox; three daughters, Colleen A. Keefer (Michael) of Harrisburg, Elizabeth C. Adkinson (Timothy) of Jacksonville, FL, and Theresa L. Michael (Scott) of Valrico, FL; a son, Jason W. Knox (Melissa) of Hummelstown; a brother, John Knox (Linda) of Northfield, CT; a sister, Anne Gilbert (William) of Morehead City, NC; a step sister, Lorraine Hamel (Richard) of Terryville, CT; a step brother John Rogozinski of Harwinton, CT; and eleven grandchildren, Sharon, Bethany, Eliana, Patrick, Cecilia, Katherine, Ian, McKenzie, Allison, Olivia, and Addison.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Burial with Military Honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp. on the following Monday at 2:30 pm.
Viewings will be held from 6-8pm Thursday evening with the Knights of Columbus service at 7:30pm and from 10 to 10:30am Friday morning at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
