Jackson William Baumbach

June 24, 1922 — February 15, 2023

Jackson William Baumbach, 100 of Bethany Village Retirement Community, Mechanicsburg, formerly of New Cumberland died Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the Village.


A Marine Corp Veteran of WWII, he served in the South Pacific theatre and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a retired manager from the US Agency for International Development, New Cumberland Army Depot. He was a graduate of Middletown High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland.


He was born June 24, 1922 in Middletown to the late Walter Franklin and Viola Elizabeth (Markley) Baumbach. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Ellan (Mathias) Baumbach and brother, Lenwood Ray Baumbach.


He is survived by his sons, Larry Douglas Baumbach (Judith Banks-Baumbach) of Middletown and Ronald Jackson Baumbach of North East, MD; and a grandson, Tucker Baumbach of Duncannon.


Visitation will be from 10am until memorial services at 11am Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow at 1pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Cumberland Public Library, earmarked for the Foundation House, 1 Benjamin Plaza, New Cumberland, PA 17070, https://www.cumberlandcountylibraries.org/NCU
