James Douglas Zimmerman, 53, of Etters died Friday, September 17, 2021 at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital. Jim was born January 20, 1968 in Harrisburg to the late J. William Zimmerman and Connie (Lyter) Zimmerman, who survives. He was a 1987 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School.
He was the owner/operator of Zimmerman’s Landscaping and Lawn Care, Mechanicsburg. Jim was extremely hard working, and started his business when he was twelve years old, pushing his lawn mower around the streets of New Cumberland. Jim was dedicated to his customers who were very fond of him. He had many customers for over fifteen years who were like family, and he would go out of his way to help others. Jim rarely stopped working. When he did find the time off from his business he would fish. His love for top water fishing came from his grandfather, whom he always missed. Jim was always after the big catch, because a muskie fisherman is always after the biggest lunker. Jim had a sense of humor and loved to laugh.
He will be dearly missed by his son and best friend, Zachary R. at his home; his mother Connie (Lyter) Zimmerman of New Cumberland; sister Tonya L. Gail, two nephews, Hunter and Harrison, and a niece, Teagan of Lewes, DE; and his former wife, Jennifer L. Zabady Zimmerman of Newport, and everyone that knew and loved him.
Visitation will be from 9:30am until memorial services at 11am Wednesday, September 29th at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill. Private interment will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to benefit pediatric cancer to ZTA/ATO THON, PO BOX 1228, State College, PA 16804
