Jim Huffer, 84, of New Cumberland died at home on February 14, 2021. He was born on November 13, 1936 at the Harrisburg Hospital to the late Harris and Mary Shenck Huffer. In addition to his parents, a brother, Marlin, and sister, Genevieve Covert, preceded Jim in death.
He was a 1954 graduate of New Cumberland High School and a graduate of HACC. Jim served in the Navy aboard the USS Mississippi, the USS Fearless and the USS Manly. He retired from the 2071st Air National Guard and from the FMSO Mechanicsburg Navy Depot.
He was a lifetime member of the 974 American Legion, the Rudy Dininni VFW, the Goldsboro Fire Company, the Mechanicsburg Club, the Lowther Manor Lodge No. 781 F. & A.M., Duncannon Sportsman Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Northern York Fish and Game. He was a former member of the Susquehanna Gun Club.
Jim enjoyed block shoots, auctions, hunting and attending his grandsons’ sporting events.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Kathleen L. Huffer; daughters, Jennifer Culbert (Robert), Jill Myers (Darryl), Joellen Rowe, and Jacqueline Heckrote (Terry). He was known as “Pap” to his grandchildren, Erin Green (Dustin), Alicia Obercash, Meghan Corbesero (Steven), Katharine Busillo, Evan Heckrote and Maxwell Heckrote; and great-grandchildren, Blake Jacoby, Jay Smith, Natalia Green, Braeden Busillo, Matteo Green and Quentin Green.

There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will occur at a later date. Jim’s final resting place will be in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Lewisberry.
