James P. O’Leary, 73, passed peacefully October 7, 2017 at Meadows of West Shore.
He was a retired Broadcaster and published Author. As a young teenager he began his career as a disc jockey in Wilkes-Barre PA, eventually becoming the owner of 3 radio stations.
He was born January 20, 1944 in Scranton Pa, to the late Richard and Alice (Doughtery) O’Leary.
He is survived by a son, James B. of Mechanicsburg; two daughters, Christine O’Leary-Rocky of Cockeysville, MD and Jennifer A. Salvatore of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Maureen Pesci of South Carolina; He had eight grandchildren, Cristion, Collin, Cassidy, Zach, Ben, Chelsea, Jake and Sean. And two great-grandchildren, Dorian and Calliope. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard.
"Jim" was passionately interested in his Irish heritage, taking multiple trips to what he considered his homeland and eventually becoming an author on the topic. Jim requested that some of his ashes be spread in Ireland. Possibly on a golf course in a sand trap which was invariably where he would belong.
Visitation will be held at 2pm followed by a 3pm Memorial Service Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 225 Salt Road, Enola. Private interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp.
