James (Jack) Peter Till, 88, formerly of Camp Hill, PA, passed away peacefully in his home early on Tuesday morning, December 6, 2016, at The Lodge at Old Trail in Crozet Virginia.
Mr. Till served as a Korean War Army veteran 1946-1948, received a letter of commendation from President Harry Truman, and was recently honored with a veteran pinning ceremony.
He attended St. Theresa Parish in New Cumberland until he and his wife moved to Crozet, Virginia in 2012. He made longstanding friendships and golf buddies through the church.
Jack and his wife, Phyllis, started JML Enterprises in 1972, manufacturing small electronic transformers and retired from JML in 2006. He was a true Renaissance man, taking up cooking, gardening, golfing, skiing and international travel. In fact, he skied until he was 85-years old and just a few months ago while golfing, sunk a 20-foot putt for birdie! Jack’s favorite international trip was to Paris where he and Phyllis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He was a devoted and loving husband, the best father any daughter could possibly want, and a caring, fatherly presence for his grandchildren. Everyone who knew him enjoyed the twinkle in his eye and his delightful sense of humor. Above all, Jack Till was kind.
Born April 9, 1928 in Paxtang, PA to the late Jacob and Anna (Kempf) Till, he was also preceded in death by his son, John Peter Till and his brother Joe Till.
Jack is survived by his wife of more than 62 years, Phyllis (Jacobs) Till; three daughters, Lynne A. Tucker and husband Byron of Palm Harbor, FL; Mary K. Till of Reigelsville, PA; and Jennifer L. Till of Batesville, VA; and four grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Katie and Sarah.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 10, 2016 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA. The viewing will be prior to Saturday’s service, 9:30-10:30 am, in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland, PA. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp., PA.
A reception will be held at 1pm Saturday at The Pizza Grille, 3817 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
Memorial contributions are respectfully requested in Mr. Till’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or www.stjude.org.
