James Thomas Dougherty, Sr. 83, of Camp Hill, formerly of Schnecksville, PA and Leesburg, FL, died on January 6 surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in the heart of West Philadelphia. As a proud 1955 graduate of St. Thomas More High School, he made it his mission to give back to his alma mater. He was an accomplished and loyal Kraft Foods Service executive who inspired and mentored many over his 37-year career. A faithful man, he served on St. Joseph the Worker Parish Council in Orefield, PA and was a dedicated member of Knights of Columbus. His patriotism led him to serve in the United States Army. He was an avid golfer who loved his weekly outings with the Nifty Niners. He enjoyed playing cards, water aerobics, playing the stock market, and working outdoors.
A true family man, he supported his grandchildren’s athletic endeavors and nurtured their curiosity. He often could be found at a baseball game, football field, dance recital, or walking down the beach exploring for seashells and bird watching from the deck. A first-generation Irish American, he loved his heritage and passed that love and pride to his children and grandchildren. Irish music and dance was a staple at family gatherings.
He was born October 4, 1936 to the late Vincent and Rosanne (McKenna) Dougherty. He was also proceeded in death by his siblings, John, Regina Ross, and Charles; son-in-law, Richard Wagner.
He is survived by wife Loretta C.; five children, Kathleen D. Wagner of Lewisberry, PA, James T. Jr. (Maria Mainini) of North Weymouth, MA, Marianne D. Walsh (James) of Boonsboro, MD; Matthew C.
