Janet J. Lahr (née Rehm), 85, of Etters, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg. Daughter of the late Eli Jacob and Ella Mae (née Kohler) Rehm, she was born on June 25, 1933 in Yocumtown.
Upon graduation of high school, Janet continued her education and became a registered nurse. She worked at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, and later at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill; she retired from the latter. Her interests changed throughout the years; at one point she enjoyed working with ceramics, and later she became interested in sewing and making clothes for her family. Janet also made home-made preserves, baked, and collected cookbooks. She went on various bus trips over the years, which satisfied her love of traveling. She was a member of the Society of Farm Women, and was also a passionate dog lover and owner.
Janet is survived by her five children, Steven, David, Timothy, Thomas and Judith; her four grandchildren, Christina, Jonathan, Randy and Jadelyn; and two brothers, Donald Rehm, of Mechanicsburg, and Royce “Jake” Rehm, of Etters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Hal” Lahr, who passed away in late May.
A public burial will take place at 11AM on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Tri-County Memorial Gardens, 740 Wyndamere Rd., Lewisberry, PA 17339.
