Jay E. Hoover, Sr., 79, of Dillsburg, formerly of New Cumberland died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
A Korean War Air Force Veteran, he was a retired Facilities Manager from the former New Cumberland Army Depot. He retired from the Air National Guard, 201st Red Horse Division. He was a 1955 graduate of the former New Cumberland High School. He was past Scout Master of Troop 57, Baughman United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; Past Commander of American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland; Past President of Cedar Cliff Band Boosters; and involved in many other activities in New Cumberland and surrounding communities.
He was born October 11, 1936 in New Cumberland to the late A.E. and Alice Rebecca (Walls) Hoover.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce E.; two daughters, Denise Schaffer (Steve) and Jill Fuchs (Steve) both of Etters; a son, Jay E. Hoover, Jr. (Marilyn) of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Joyce Wagner of Carlisle; brother, John Hoover of Windham, VT; six grandchildren, Jordan, Jeremiah, Sara, Carrie, Danielle, and Stefanie.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until memorial services at 11am Tuesday at Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church, Etters.
