Jean Elizabeth Johnson, 83, of Camp Hill entered eternal life peacefully at home on Thursday, November 12, 2015. Jean was born on July 20th, 1932 in Tannersville, PA to the late George W. Newhart and Sally A. (Miller) Newhart. Her spirit is carried on by her loving husband Horace “Hank” of 61 years, her four children; Matt Johnson (Lisa), Sally Holbert (John), Amy Bihl (Dave) and Doug Johnson; ten grandchildren (Quinton, Peter, Alex, Tim, Trevor, Elliott, Matt, Andrew, Jake and Molly); two siblings (Dot Metzgar and Bill Newhart), and an extended family of wonderful relations and friends from all walks of life. After graduating from Bloomsburg College in 1954, Jean completed a 35 year accounting career at the Army War College and began a second career with Concept Now Cosmetics.
Jean embodied her love of life, family and caring for others despite the re-occurrence of her thyroid cancer. She touched many as an active member of Soroptimist International of West Shore, Friendship Force International (FFI), and Trinity Lutheran Church’s altar guild. She was honored by FFI with the Wayne Smith Medal for upholding the values of mutual respect, cultural diversity and humanitarian service.
