Jean G. Evertts, 87, of New Cumberland went to be with the Lord Monday, November 18, 2013 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
She was a retired Clerk II from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. She was a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland Golden Age Club, and PARSE. Jean liked to be around people. She was a good listener and enjoyed music, singing, and in her younger days, sewing. In the 60’s she started the Cherub Choir at Colonial Park UCC, was in their adult choir, and taught Junior Sunday School Class. She was also involved in Girl Scouts with her daughters. She became involved in the New Cumberland Town Band of which her husband was the manager: occasionally singing and taking attendance.
She was born November 15, 1926 in Newville to the late David and Leah (Good) Shank. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Hoffman two stepsons, Larry R. and Ronald L. Evertts and brother, Robert Shank.
She is survived by her husband Randall E. Evertts; two daughters, Patrice Cook of Harrisburg and Barbara Zubchynsky of Philadelphia; a stepson, Randall E., Jr. of New Cumberland; two stepdaughters, Virginia C. Evertts of Camp Hill and Nancy K. Hayes of Maryville, TN; a sister, Nancy Zeager of Williamstown, SC; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and ten step great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 10am until funeral services at 11am Saturday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp.
