It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeanne Mae Welter, who peacefully departed this life at home, surrounded by her loving family, on April 14, 2025. Born on December 10, 1939, in Lower Paxton Township, PA, Jeanne led a life marked by her devotion to family and community.
A proud graduate of Central Dauphin High School in 1957, Jeanne made her home in New Cumberland, PA. She began her professional journey as a secretary with the General State Authority within the Pennsylvania state government. Her exceptional organizational skills and commitment to her work paved the way for her to manage the family business, L.J. Welter, Inc., alongside her beloved husband, Leroy.
Beyond her career, she was an active member of her community, holding memberships in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Cumberland, VFW Post 7530 in Lower Allen Township, and American Legion Post 143 in New Cumberland.
Jeanne was known for her love of shopping, gardening, and bingo, but she was perhaps best remembered for her infectious spirit and zest for life. A gifted dancer, she was always the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter to those around her.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Soloman and Edna Mae (Zimmerman) Cassel; and her sisters, Dorothy Deiter and Margaret Marks.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Leroy J. Welter; her daughter, Sheri Lee Charney (Douglas) of Lewisberry; her son, Rick Welter (Valinda) of Lewisberry; her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Lee Nissley (Jonas) of Bainbridge, Tyler James Dugan (Alexis) of Enola, Gabrielle Mae Welter and Trevor Alan Welter of Lewisberry; and her great-granddaughter, Sawyer Lee Nissley, who brought her so much joy.
A private graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jeanne's memory to the American Stroke Foundation (https://americanstroke.org/) or the Amedisys Foundation (https://www.amedisys.com/), organizations that provide support and care to those in need.
Jeanne Mae Welter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
