Jefferson Shipman, son of the late F. Lee and Jayne Shipman, passed on December 8, 2019. Jeff is survived by two brothers, Lee Todd and Judson Shipman, four children, Holland, Benjamin, Lydia, and Samuel, and one grandchild, Anders.
Jeff was born on January 26, 1962 in Carlisle and grew up in Shiremanstown. He was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, Gettysburg College, and The Dickinson School of Law. At law school Jeff received awards in Trial Advocacy and served as an adjunct faculty member of trial advocacy after graduation.
Professionally, Jeff served as Deputy Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He was then in private practice for over 30 years principally in trial work before the Honorable Judges and Courts of Central Pennsylvania.
Jeff served for various professional and community organizations, including the Pennsylvania, Cumberland, and Dauphin County Bar Associations, the Rutherford House Senior Center President and Board Member, the Wildcat Foundation for his high school, the Orange and Blue Club of Gettysburg College, and the Boy Scouts of America.
Jeff enjoyed all sports, especially wrestling in high school and college. He respected his coaches, Steve Sauve and Lee Smith, and teammates. He enjoyed travelling with his family and friends across the United States. He was an avid reader of American history.
