Jeffrey Eric Becker

June 21, 1952 — April 1, 2025

Mechanicsburg, PA

Jeffrey E. Becker, 72, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of New Cumberland, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, with his wife and family by his side. He was the son of the late Floyd and Dorothy "Dottie" (Bock) Becker, born on June 21, 1952, in Harrisburg.

A 1970 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill, Jeff would go on to spend his entire working career as a printer at Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield in East Pennsboro Township. His life took a wonderful turn after a blind date that went exceptionally well, leading him to marry the love of his life, Kathy, in 1987. Together, they raised a son and started family traditions of their own, including summer vacations to Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Jeff was an avid reader, always staying informed on current events and political affairs. A Civil War enthusiast, he also had a deep fascination with humanity's eventual journey to Mars. At age 63, he embraced retirement, making the most of his time on the golf course—whether golfing locally or squeezing in a round during trips to the beach. Depending on the company, he answered to several nicknames, including Putter, Pork Chop, Jim, and a few others that are best left unpublished. He took great pride in maintaining a flawless lawn, a passion that proved hard to relinquish after moving to a community where lawn and property maintenance was included.

Known for his friendly and easygoing nature, Jeff combined wit and dry humor with a love for meaningful conversations, making him someone people genuinely enjoyed being around. A devoted provider for his family, he was a loving husband, an engaged, caring father, and someone who will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving Jeff is his wife and best friend of 37 years, Kathy K. Becker; a son, Jeremy E. Becker of Clay Center, NE; a sister, Cindi Becker McNelis (Hugh McNelis) of Newberry Township; nieces, Erin McNelis (Brian Lutz), Kari McNelis (Bruce Wiest), and Melissa Simpson; great nephews and nieces, Cormac Lutz, Finnegan Lutz, Cody Wiest, and Grace Wiest; and a sister-in-law, Connie Simpson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard Simpson.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Instead of flowers or memorial contributions, Jeff would ask that you take a deeper interest in the world around you and consider ways to better preserve it.
