J.H. Quentin Beisel, 96, of Camp Hill, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at home.
He graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1938. Joined the U.S.M.C. in May 1944 and served in the Pacific campaign through February 1946. He was a member of American Legion Post 109, Mechanicsburg and Post 232, Dry Run.
He was born November 17, 1919 in Harrisburg to Harry Beisel and Stella Clendenin Beisel Shope. He was the widower of Elenor McCall Beisel and predeceased by an infant sister, Lois Beisel, two step-sisters, Lois Shope Hermansen and Louise Shope Hart.
After the war, Quentin became a dairy farmer (Ele-Quent Holsteins), enjoyed showing cattle at the Pa. Farm Show and Carlisle Fair. As well as working the greenhouses (Clendenin’s and Ele-Quent Flowers), he attended Chestnut St. Market, Hbg., Broad St. Market, Hbg., and The Lemoyne Farmer’s Market.
He fished and trapped Cedar Run Creek which ran between the farm and greenhouses all his young life. He hunted small game and deer in Pa. for 70 years. He was instrumental in giving his son and other young men the joys of the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He hunted big-game through the American west, Alaska, Yukon and British Columbia.
After retiring, Quentin and Elenor bought a farm near Dry Run in Franklin County and again raised cattle, peacocks, pheasants and crops.
