Joan Burke

Joan Burke, 92, of New Cumberland and formerly of Middletown, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, in VibraLife, Mechanicsburg.

Joan was a 1948 graduate of Middletown High School. She was a retired Assistant Manager after 42 years with the former Bell Telephone Company of PA and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. Joan was a member of St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Parish, New Cumberland, where she was an active participant in the choir for more than 40 years. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Silver Spring Golf Club. She also was a member and officer of the Susquehanna Bonsai Club for many years. Joan loved to travel and made many friends while visiting every continent of the world, touring faraway places like Alaska, Australia, Ecuador, Russia, China, and Kenya.

Joan was born in Marlin, Norwegian Twp., PA, the daughter of the late Cleon and Anna (Kotch) Burke.

She is survived by her brother Thomas M. Burke and wife Ann of New Cumberland; two nephews, Michael T. Burke and wife Jennifer L. of New Cumberland and Daniel J. Burke of New Cumberland; two great-nephews, Joseph and Matthew Burke; beloved cousins; and many friends who made her life especially rich.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in her church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30-10:30 am Wednesday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp.
