Joan Kerns Follett, 88, of New Cumberland entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 16th at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital surrounded by family.
She was the daughter of the late Roy Kerns and Maryann Peters. Joan is survived by her loving husband, Earl, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2017, and many devoted nieces and nephews.
Joan graduated from John Harris High School in 1947 and began her career working for the Boy Scouts of America Harrisburg Chapter for twenty-seven years. She worked briefly at the Boyd Center in Harrisburg and finished her working career at the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, retiring in 1991.
Joan was an avid flower gardener, an awesome cook and loved to entertain friends and family. She was a lifetime member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral in Harrisburg.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life during graveside services at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to any Hospice chapter.
