Joan R. Gourley, 88, of New Cumberland, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020 in UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was retired from both Eureka Vacuum, Lower Allen Twp. and the PA Republican House of Representatives. Most recently, she was a tour guide at Fort Hunter Mansion, Harrisburg.
Joan was a member of The Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, Harrisburg where she was an avid volunteer and greeter; the Ancient Order of Hibernians; and was a long-time Cumberland County election worker.
Joan was born in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late William H. and Loretta (Fleagle) Rodgers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Gourley and a brother William H. Rodgers.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Gourley Karl (Steve) of Camp Hill and Kelly K. Gourley (Zoeyen Au) of Ashburn, VA; a brother John W. Rodgers, of Manhattan Beach, CA; and two grandchildren, James David Karl and Mackenzie Lynn Karl.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 in the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, 212 State St. Harrisburg, PA with the Rev. Joshua Brommer as Celebrant. There will be no viewing or visitation. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp., Lebanon County.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Joan’s memory to Harrisburg Catholic Elementary School, St. Patrick Campus, 212 State St. Harrisburg, PA 17101.
