Joan L. Rudy

Joan L. Rudy, 86, of Etters died Friday, January 3, 2025 in the home of her caregiver and loving sister.

She was a retired Nurse’s Aid from Holy Spirit Hospital. Over the years, Joan was a foster mother to over thirty-two children. She was a member of Moore’s Mountain Church, Mechanicsburg and most recently, participated in worship with Calvary Fellowship led by Pastor Steve Walters. She attended New Cumberland High School and enjoyed sewing, needlework, traveling, and ceramics.

She was born October 5, 1938 in Slocum Twp. to the late Clarence Monroe and Magdalen Naomi (Smith) Whitebread. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin T. Rudy; brothers, Rick, Robert and Larry Whitebread; sister, June Muza; and grandson, Jeremy Rudy.

She is survived by two sons, Vernon L. Rudy of Council Bluffs, OH and Jeffrey L. Rudy (Kim) of Etters; siblings, Millard Whitebread (Kathy) of Etters and Ruthann Moody (Ray) of New Cumberland; grandchildren, Kirstin, Trey, Spencer and Jessica; and great-grandson, Michael.

Memorial services will be held at a date and location to be announced.
